BIG NEWS!!! I am excited to announce that DŌ has been acquired by a long-time partner, Neil Hershman, owner of 16 Handles – New York City’s #1 soft serve and dessert brand!
I started DŌ in 2014 with a goal to spread joy by allowing you to eat cookie dough safely (!!) and exactly how you crave it – unbaked, baked, as a topping, you name it! For eight years, we’ve been a small but mighty team, and we’re incredibly proud of all we’ve accomplished since that time. We are a pioneer in the confectionery industry, innovating an often-loved, but often-underestimated nostalgic treat. We opened the first-ever cookie dough confectionery creating a worldwide phenomenon that became a unique, new dessert category. We launched classes, safe-to-eat mixes, heat-treated flour, baked goods, catering, cakes, gifting, and I wrote a cookbook, Hello, Cookie Dough, sharing my stories and recipes with the world! But most importantly, we connected with you, creating a community of proud cookie-dough lovers, and hopefully added some joy and smiles to your everyday.
When I was searching for a strategic partner to catapult the next phase of growth for DŌ, 16 Handles, a long-time trusted partner and friend, was top of mind. Our brands are completely aligned, our products complement each other so well, and our missions are nearly identical – ours is “spread joy / eat cookie dough however you crave it” and 16 Handles is “spread happiness / savor dessert your way.” 16 Handles has plans to expand its brand nationally and internationally, so taking DŌ along for that journey seems only natural.
The core DŌ team in NYC, including myself, will be staying on to continue to build and expand the brand. Going forward, you can expect the same commitment to product quality, flavor innovation, customer service, and community – all amplified by the support of a larger organization.
While our flagship store downtown has closed, it’s only to make room for a bigger and better DŌ footprint. Thank you for visiting from afar, standing in line, sharing your treats on social media, and bringing along your friends and loved ones. Thank you Greenwich Village for being our home for the past 6 years. We are sad to leave the neighborhood, but our new production and fulfillment locations will allow for more capacity and growth, which we are very excited for.
And don’t worry! You can still get your DŌ fix! Our products are currently available at all NYC 16 Handles locations (East Village, Murray Hill, Tribeca, Chelsea, Times Square, UES, UWS), and will soon be available at all 16 Handles locations nationwide (!!). And, of course, we’re still shipping nationwide, so the cookie dough, cookies, cookie cakes, and treats you love are available to purchase online and have shipped right to your door! We’ll still be doing catering, corporate gifting, pop-ups, classes, Citi Field,… all the things!
And most importantly, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. Thank you for supporting us and allowing us into your home, your heart, and your belly. Here’s to a very sweet journey ahead!
