We always remind people that it is unsafe to eat raw cookie dough that is made with conventional ingredients. First, we created our baking mixes to make eating unbaked cookie dough at home possible. Then, Kristen wrote a cookbook to show you the secret to making edible cookie dough from scratch in your own kitchen. Now, we’re taking our love of unbaked desserts and commitment to food safety up a notch with a new product: Heat-Treated Flour!

This summer you may have seen the headlines about the E. Coli outbreak that was linked to flour. Later Pilsbury, King Arthur Flour, ALDI, and others recalled their flour in order to keep consumers safe.

Did you know contaminated flour can make you sick, just by touching it? Using this flour in place of traditional all purpose flour in any recipe will keep yourself and your family safe when rolling out pasta dough, shaping pie crust, and taking a taste of your cake batter as well as making the recipes in our new cookbook Hello, Cookie Dough.

It is also the safest option for making kids’ crafts like homemade playdough or paper-mache.

Why is traditional four unsafe?

Traditional all-purpose flour comes straight from the field to your kitchen without undergoing a "kill-step" or treatment process to get rid of anything creatures scampering through wheat fields may have left behind (yuck!). As a result, uncooked flour is a known carrier of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli and Salmonella

What makes this heat-treated flour special?

Our new heat-treated flour allows you to make our cookie dough, brownie batter, and other confection recipes without a worry because it is processed with a proprietary heat treatment method to create a product with a reduced microbial profile.

This treated all purpose flour can be used in a 1:1 ratio in any recipe that requires standard all purpose flour that you may want to eat (or at least swipe from the mixing bowl) unbaked. It’s such a simple substitute that takes no extra steps.

Where can I buy it?

Right here! We are selling this heat-treated flour on our website and definitely recommend that you pre-order our cookbook, Hello, Cookie Dough along with it. It features more than 100 ways to use this special flour and make your edible cookie dough dreams come true!
